Raising workplace skills

A comprehensive career training course that helps design itself based on available resources! It is an integrated approach to exploring careers and their skill requirements, building workplace skills using KeyTrain®, and creating life-literacy with such skills as financial awareness and job searching. Of course the program leads users to certification with WorkKeys® assessments and the National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC). It's a powerful way to build self-esteem, provide real credentials, and simply set students up for success.

Career Ready 101 and KeyTrain are used across the country to skill up our nation's workforce.

    I am a math instructor at a Career Technical Center. I just started using KeyTrain as a tool to improve and assess our students Basic skills three different areas. KeyTrain is a wonderful tool for me because I can pair a student’s score with the career they are interested in and give them truly real life reasons for needing improvement in curtain areas. It is also a great tool that allows our instructors to know the real world skills their students have, and skills they need to have before they leave the program.

    It saves me a lot of work and fits perfectly within the goals we want to achieve at the Career Technical Center.

    KeyTrain is very user friendly. We are enrolling all our Adult Education Students at Oklahoma City Community College into this program. Since this is an online program, they can use it anytime that they like, and it serves as a supplement to the instruction in basic skills needed for work that they receive in class.

    Lake Michigan College is part of Breaking Through, a consortium of colleges helping adults enter and succeed in college and careers.

    Breaking Through programs are part of our Workforce Training Institute; the coursework for these programs include KeyTrain, WorkKeys toward the National Career Readiness Certificate and a module on College and Career Essentials including Career Ready 101.

    KeyTrain is being provided to our 67 high school and alternative education high schools in Oakland County (Michigan) to prepare our future workforce for the challenges head. To date we have also trained 240+ educators on KeyTrain to use with their students. We also are beginning a partnership with our Adult Education community and our Workforce Development Agencies to attempt to create a county wide workforce development system for all ages striving for the attainment of the ACT National Career Readiness Certificate. (Three WorkKeys assessments). We hope to demonstrate to existing and future employers (economic development) through this business validated credential that we in Oakland County are preparing our future, incumbant, and retrained workforce for the foundational skills for 21st Century jobs. We are "skilling up" in Oakland County with KeyTrain! Feedback is that our students and adults really like the accessibility of this 24/7 online learning tool to learn at their own pace and convenience.
